02 - User Interface
Minimum requirement: Qubicle Basic Edition
The Work Area is the main window of the user interface and the place where you edit your model. In the top right corner you can find the Camera Cube which rotates with the camera and indicates which side of the model you are looking at. You can click on either side of the Camera Cube to rotate the camera to the corresponding perpendicular view. Click on the little home button to reset the camera position and rotation.
Quick Access Bar
The Quick Access Bar offers a faster way to access actions found in the main menu. Actions are grouped in tabs. The last tab Favorites can be customized to your liking. To add an action to the Favorites tab, move your mouse over an enabled action and click on the little Star icon in the top right corner.
The Header Bar helps you navigate around your model. Qubicle 3.0 is node-based and supports object hierarchies. The right-most displayed object is always the one you are currently working on. Objects left of it display the path from the root node to the active node. Think of it as the bread crumb path usually found in website URLs. You can click on a node to activate it, or use the arrow button to get to the parent node.
The Toolbar contains all available tools with global and individual tool options. Global tool options include the Slice Mode to work on a 2D canvas, tool mirroring, masking and stroke tracing (more on that in a couple of minutes). Some tools like the Magic Wand offer additional tool options which you can find below the global tool option buttons. To find out what the purpose of a tool is move your mouse over a tool icon and read the description in the Status Bar.
The Swatches Panel allows you to pick the current color and to display and manage all of your swatches. The 256 available swatches are divided into 4 areas that you can access with the numbered tabs. To add swatches to the Favorites tab, move your mouse over an enabled swatch and press a number key from 0 to 9. You can then quickly change to one of your favorites by pressing that number key in the Work Area.
In the Property Panel you can change object properties and adjust display options. The Info tab changes depending on the current active object and the selection. You can use it to quickly edit node properties. If the root node is enabled and nothing is selected then the File Info is displayed.
The other two tabs are listing various display options that you can toggle. By clicking on the pencil icon next to an option you can edit further display settings like watermark text or background colors. The settings made in the View panel affect the Work Area. With the Render tab you can adjust the render to file settings. Once this tab is activated you will see a preview of the render result.
Last but not least, the Status Bar displays help texts, warnings and errors. Move your mouse over buttons and the status bar will display some basic info about the underlying action if available.
Furthermore by clicking on the little icons on the right side you will get logs of all actions, errors and warnings.
