Compounds are groups of objects that establish a hierarchy. They are useful for editing and exporting, and will speed up render time. Compounds can be formed by any number of Matricies or Compounds. They are distinguished from other objects by a dashed Bounding Box.
Creating and Breaking a Compound
Select the objects you would like to join in a compound and choose Modify > Compound > Create Compound or use the hotkey P.
The figures are now in a new Compound.
Double-clicking an object in the Compound allows it to be edited as normal.
To break the Compound into its component parts, return to the model view, select the compound and choose Modify > Compound > Break or use Shift + P.
To add an object to a Compound, select the object, then select the Compound. Choose Modify > Compound > Parent.
Here, the couch has been added to the Compound. Note that the edge of the couch is clipped by the compound's Bounding Box.
Looking at the Compound, all of the couch is still there. The Compound's bounding box can be resized with Modify > Workarea > Optimize.
Selecting an object and choosing Modify > Compound > Unparent removes the object from the Compound.
Merge / Crop
To merge the elements of the compound into one Matrix, select the Compound and choose Modify > Compound > Merge.
Crop deletes voxels of the objects in a Compound that are outside of the compound's Bounding Box. To demonstrate this, the Bounding Box of the compound has been made smaller.
To crop the objects, go into the Compound view and select Modify > Compound > Crop.
